Jakub Heciak (1983) has studied architecture in Strasbourg (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Strasbourg), Paris (Ecole Nationale Supérieure d'Architecture de Paris-Belleville) and Cracow University of Technology (CUT). After receiving his diploma in 2007 he starts his doctoral studies at CUT under supervision of prof. dr. Jacek Gyurkovich. His dissertation on qualitative policies in cooperative housing was successfully defended in 2015. In 2011 he starts his teaching assistance in architectural design at Kielce University of Technology (Poland). In 2016 Jakub was a visiting research fellow in ETH-Wohnforum, ETH-Case in Zurich. Scope of his scientific interests particularly focus on affordable and social housing, built-environment quality and practice-oriented teaching. He is cofounder of 1m3 student workshops oriented on material exploration in architecture. Ongoing research projects analyse sustainable development evolution and housing affordability.

Jakub Heciak his professional experience gained working in French and Polish architectural offices being involved in big mixed-use, office and skyscraper projects, since 2010 he is leading his own practice (Jakub Heciak Architekt). He is a member of the board and member of competition committee of SARP Kielce division. Since 2011 he is a member of National Chamber of Polish Architects (IARP).
